I wonder whether you can help? I am trying to research the history of a family who spent many years in Little Compton and were local brewers founding a number of your local pubs.
His name was Henry Lardner. Many of the pubs were sold to Flowers Brewery in 1898, however I am researching Henry Lardner back to around the period 1861-1878. Any leads that you may have would be gratefully received.

There is a book “A history of Little Compton” that I have been informed has a chapter about the Lardner family. I have asked at the village pub but unfortunately they have no more copies and the author has recently died. I will dig about and let you know if I can locate a copy.
